The story of Amouage
Amouage was founded in 1983 in Muscat by Sayyid Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, at the request of Sultan Qaboos bin Said. Its first perfume, created by French perfumer Guy Robert, is known today as Amouage Gold. The bottles carry Omani symbols: the women's caps are shaped like the dome of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, and the men's caps like the handle of the khanjar dagger. Fragrances are still made in Muscat.
What Amouage Guidance smells like
Guidance, launched in 2023, is a warm floral built on Amouage's rose, frankincense and ambergris signature. The top notes are pear, frankincense and hazelnut; the heart is saffron, rose, jasmine sambac and osmanthus; the base is cistus, sandalwood, akigalawood, ambergris and vanilla. It smells soft and creamy, with a glowing incense trail.
