What is the difference between cologne and perfume?
Cologne is the lightest classic perfume concentration, usually about 2–5% aromatic oils, while an eau de parfum holds about 15–20%. A cologne therefore smells fresher and fades sooner, which makes it a refreshing splash for hot days, while an eau de parfum lasts longer for evenings.
What is eau de cologne used for?
Eau de cologne is used as a light, refreshing splash after a shower, at the gym or on hot days. Since the 18th century people have also dabbed it on the wrists and temples to feel refreshed, and it can be reapplied freely because it is so light.
